Abstract: Medical residency is a challenging period that can negatively impact the mental health of resident doctors. Studies point to high rates of burnout, depression and anxiety disorders in this population. The Psychiatry Network-Based Medical Residency Program of the Municipal Health Department of São Paulo developed a pioneering Resident Wellness Program focused on promoting well-being and preventing mental illness The program offers five fronts: establishing an environment of open dialogue about well-being in medical residency, supervised peer support groups, seminars and training to preserve well-being, encouraging the practice of physical activity and reception and referral for treatment when necessary. We chose to include seminars, training and groups in the program’s regular timetable for better acceptance of the strategies. The program is recent and has an innovative model in Brazil with a focus on promoting health and well-being.Given the urgency of the topic, we encourage program supervisors and coordinators of Medical Residency Committees in Brazil to seek to develop similar programs.

Abstract: Objectives: To conduct a profile of patients treated in COMPP, aged 0-21 years, in an ambulatory specialized in eating disorder, and give an overview of care. Material and Methods: A retrospective descriptive study based on chart review of patients treated with dietary changes from January 2012 to January 2013. Data collected from specific forms and reporting of each professional recorded in the charts. We assessed socio-demographic factors and the international standard body mass index (BMI), and, for analysis, was used classification by percentile for sex and age according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Results: The age range of the serviced was nine (9) at 20 years of age. Distributed in 60% (n = 26) female and 40% (n = 17) male. The largest number of individuals within the Federal District corresponds to Taguatinga (n = 5), Samambaia (n = 5) and Ceilândia (n = 5). Two other states, Minas Gerais (MG) and Goiás (GO) were more evident. Of these, the Goiás state has the number of individuals assisted (n = 6) higher up than the district regions separately. The proportion was 84% coming from DF, 14% from GO and 2% from MG. As to group therapy, 88% of patients treated participated. 12% (n = 5) did not participate in any group. Parents' participation: 16 patients had parents participating, with an average of 8.68 shares. The average participation of patients in the groups was 17.94 attendances in a year. A ratio comparing parents and children participations was 1:2. Anorexia nervosa (AN), obesity and TCAP have the same number of representatives (n = 5). Most received a diagnosis of eating disorder not otherwise specified (EDNOS) n = 16 and Pica n = 1. And a significant portion received another major diagnosis that was not the eating disorder - TA (n = 8). Three (3) participants required hospitalization of the total in a general hospital by gravity, all males. These patients represent 6.9% of the sample. From the first contact to the service until the first psychiatric evaluation: we had an average of 945 days (mean 2.58 years) to receive a diagnosis by means of psychiatric evaluation. Separating individuals who had a primary diagnosis of mental disorders other than TA, we found comorbidities, 4 obese and 1 underweight individual. Highlighting the AN and BN, we reached an evolution of the development of weight and height parameters. Conclusion: The evaluation demonstrates the impact of Group Care for Eating Disorders in the treatment of children and adolescents, shows a heterogeneous patient profile in this small sample, which reaffirms the importance of a multidisciplinary specialized team to conduct the peculiarities of the various eating disorders. There are limitations and points to be reorganized to better serve the children and youth, as well as requiring more support from the public system concerning attendance to these cases, indicates the need for further research and development of public policies that aims to improve quality life and recovery.
