Desenvolvimento e implantação de um protocolo para o diagnóstico de desnutrição hospitalar utilizando a iniciativa da liderança global para desnutrição (Global Leadership Initiative On Malnutrition – GlLIM)

Abstract

Introduction: The ideal instrument for nutritional assessment should be sensitive, accurate and reproducible by several observers. A global criterion for diagnosing malnutrition in adults in clinical settings, the Global Leadership Initiative on Malnutrition – GLIM was designed to reach a worldwide consensus on the identification and approval of criteria for the diagnosis of malnutrition. Objectives: In view of the importance of nutritional diagnosis on the impact on clinical results and patient outcomes, the objective of this study was to develop and carry out a validation by specialists of a hospital malnutrition diagnosis protocol using GLIM for implementation in the SES/DF network (Secretary of the State of Health of the Federal District) and at the IGES/DF (Institute of Strategic Health Management of the Federal District). Method: Its construction required content validation through bibliographical research, expert opinion (subjective), semantic evaluation and expert opinion (objective). In the last step, the experts gave their opinion, evaluating the tool by four attributes: usefulness, simplicity, objectivity and low cost on a 5-point Likert scale (1-5). Results: As a result, a clear instrument was obtained for the diagnosis of hospital malnutrition, optimized and standardized through a standard protocol based on the opinion of specialists with the GLIM proposal clarified for professionals. Developed products: The Hospital Malnutrition Diagnosis Protocol was approved and implemented using the Global Leadership Initiative for Malnutrition in the SES-DF network and in the IGESDF. Conclusions: This protocol was developed based on current studies supported by scientific evidence and analyzed by experienced professionals and specialists in the field. The protocol standardized procedures for diagnosing hospital malnutrition among professional nutritionists responsible for assisting adult patients hospitalized in Hospital Units in order to direct nutritional flows, conducts and procedures, for a better systematization of care and optimization of resources.
