Práticas e cuidados maternos com a saúde bucal do filho hospitalizado em um hospital público

Abstract

Objective: understand maternal practices and care for their children’s oral health at the time of hospitalization. Method: mixed research that analyzed data related to maternal practices and care with 60 mothers of hospitalized children. Results: 61% (n = 37) of hospitalized children were 0 to 3 years old and 51% (n = 31) of mothers rated their hospitalized child’s oral health as good. Most mothers 70% (n = 42) reported that during hospitalization they did not have contact with oral health professionals or receive guidance on oral hygiene. Conclusion: the oral hygiene of hospitalized children does not occur in a systematic and oriented way during hospitalization.
